Speed Skating Success

Way to go Lilah!!!

Recently Lilah Langi-Scott, Rm 10 took part in the New Zealand Open Short Track Speed Skating Championships. Lilah who is a member of the New Zealand Next Generation speed skating team, skated in 20 races with heats, semi's and finals over 2 grades. She placed first in both her age grade, Sub-junior Women and the age grade above Junior Women. She achieved new personal best times over all distances raced 222ms, 500ms, 777ms, 1000ms and 1500ms. Lilah was also awarded the most improved skater award, topping off a very successful competition. Earlier in the year Lilah received a scholarship from Ice Speed Skating New Zealand to help her development in the sport. A Skeggs Foundation grant has also helped fund her season. All of this couldn't be achieved without her supportive coaches Brett McCormack and Mark McCormack and Dunedin Ice Skating Club.
