Edible (kind of) Rainbows!

Our density experiment in Miss Brawley and Mr Tunoka's Science Elective led to students eating rainbows

In Science Electives on Fridays we have been doing some very tasty, messy and noisy experiments. So far we have made ice cream, popcorn, rockets and slime.  One of our most recent experiments was making a rainbow in a cup which we did by layering liquids with different densities on top of each other. First we mixed different types of sugar to 4 different glasses of water and added different food colourings. Then we had to play around with pipettes and test tubes to get the liquids to carefully layer on top of each other. The result was a success and a unique and interesting drink before lunch.
