Introducing Ali - By Isla and Blake

Room 8 has a new class member!

This week Room 8 welcomed a new student from Lebanon. He has been living in Auckland for a few months. His name is Ali Al Yassen and he's 12 years old.

He said it's fun being in Room 8 and he loves New Zealand very much. He's happy being in Room 8 doing his favourite subjects, including English and sport. His favourite sport is football and his preferred position of centre mid. He used to play it in Syria, so he has a lot of experience.

If he could describe Room 8 in 2 words it would be "Very good." He said Miss Brawley is a very nice teacher, loves the way she teaches and he loves her sense of humour. He is getting more and more confident every day. He said "the kids in Room 8 are very good and I like playing with them."

Learning in Room 8 has been a fun and difficult challenge, with making more friends along the way. He is looking forward to learning more English and understanding people's ways. He misses being from Lebanon but looks forward to going on new adventures.
