Year 7 Update

Year 7's enjoying, electives, swimming and their student led conferences this term.

It is hard to believe that we are heading into Week 6 of the term. The year 7's have been enjoying getting involved in electives this term. The squash group for example were so excited about their progress after two sessions they want to have an inter-school competition.

The Student-Led Conferences went well last week and it was great to see the children sharing examples of the work they were proud of. Thank you to all the parents who came along to these conferences.

As you can imagine our programme is a little disrupted with the the Level 2 situation and swimming has been put on hold until we are back at Level 1. This will mean the students will have a reduced number of sessions for the term.

We are just rounding off our 2040 projects and many students have chosen the digital format for sharing these. Check out your children's progress in Co-spaces, minecraft. The top presentation from each class will be showcased at the Polytech Hub.

As we look towards the end of the term we have the WONDER Rocket challenge coming up next week. Students will be asked to bring a 1.5 litre bottle and other materials they can repurpose from home to create their rocket.

We also have the Police Education Officer coming in during week 8-9 to work through the Kia Kaha programme.

The Aurora Science Fair was held in August. This year there were less entries throughout the fair and yet we still had a 75% success rate of prize winners.  Special mention to Olivia O'Brien and Alex McKeever who won multiple awards for their projects.
