Sports History Elective
Last week, for the History of Sport elective, the students went to the Sports Hall of Fame. Read about their experiences and the surprise that awaited them at the door!
For the History of Sport elective we went to the Sports Hall of Fame at the Railway Station.
When we arrived we were greeted by some flight attendants from Air New Zealand who gave us some lollies, cookies, and signs. When we went into the the building we lined up to meet three of the All Blacks! We met Sam Cane, Malakai Fekitoa and Lima Sopoaga. They signed our posters and took photos with us.
Then Miss Cooper and Miss Brocklebank rounded us all up and took us upstairs to start the Sports Hall of Fame quiz. We collected our clipboards and then met Ron, our tour guide and quiz helper. Ron guided us through the museum to the main exhibition where he talked to us about the Hall of Fame and how people get into it. There were lots of different displays with information, photos and equipment from famous retired sports people. We walked around and answered as many questions as we could to the quiz, finding out a lot of information!
When we got back onto the bus it was buzzing with compliments about the Hall of Fame. Overall, we had a great time and it was exciting to meet the All Blacks!
