Room 5's amazing VR experience!

Today, R5 was lucky enough to have a visit from the Blake Foundation.

On Tuesday the 16th of May Room 5 went into The Hub (Rm 19) and did a virtual reality session about the ocean and wildlife around New Zealand. First was Tawhitinuni( Poor Knights land ). When we looked through the VR goggles we saw a nice healthy ocean environment where all the fish were healthy and there were stingrays, lots of beautiful and colourful fish and bright yellow sponge sticking to the walls it looked just like Spongebob. Then we changed and looked at the water and ocean in Te Rua-o-te-moko ( Fiordland ).

We saw lots of little and big fish and sea anemone, it was very murky and gross. Next we went to see Hauraki Gulf ( Goat Island ). It is an unprotected island off the coast of Auckland and it has lots of small fish and lots of seaweed and kelp.

Then we went to Maungahuka ( Auckland Islands) we saw lots of yellow eyed penguins on the islands and there were lots of small and full sized penguins. Also underwater there were lots of colourful and big fish.

Lastly we went back to Otepoti (Dunedin Harbour), We saw lots of disgusting rubbish, tyres, and beer bottles. There were some fish but not many because it wasn’t a great environment, and it was really murky too. At the end we saw lots of humpback whales which were really cool. The whole VR experience was really awesome.
