Julie Thorburn - FIFA Project Manager

This term our PBL question is; How do we, as Project Managers, create and perform a pantomime for preschool and NE students?

On Tuesday in Week One, we heard from Julie Thorburn who is a Project Manager working with the FIFA World Cup. Here are some of our takeaways...

I learnt that Julie had a very busy life. I would not be able to sit through so many meetings! I also learnt that there are different types of project managers including transportation, concerts etc. also, that Julie only found out about project managers later in life. If I was Julie it would be early nights for me :) - Bella Tempero

I thought Julie's Q&A was awesome! Learning about her job and what it's like for her when a large event is on was pretty cool to learn about. I learnt that she has to be patient, focused, and organised and that her job focuses on transport for large events. Julie has a very busy job but she is so lucky as she gets to travel the world and get paid for it! - Moana Spurr

I thought Julie's Q&A was cool and inspiring. - Abby Patterson

Last Tuesday the whole school was lucky enough to get a visit from Julie Thorburn, a fifa project manager. She talked to us all about her journey and career and what she's doing now. Julie told us all about the world cup and where she worked and what she did before preparing for the women's world cup. From Julie, we took out how to be project managers and how to work as a team. We learnt what project managers do in their daily lives and their struggles and success. We gave Julie a Q&A and we came out of it with lots of information that we will use for our pantomime. - Darcy Tavendale

Juile Thornburn came to our school to answer some questions about being a project manager, the Q+A was an awesome opportunity to learn more about being a project manager. Some key points I learnt were that you have to be very flexible with your time, be very focused and be very patient. Julie told us all about working and the FIFA women's world cup and how responsible and organized you have to be a project manager. It takes a lot of time and effort to be a project manager. Being a project manager would be a very fun job. - Lewis Rae
