Room 6's Virtual Mission To Birmingham

Room 6 is currently in the middle of a virtual race to Birmingham to celebrate the start of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The goal is to cover the the 1,653 km tour of the UK from Cardiff to Birmingham in the quickest time. We're competing against other classes from around Aotearoa.... and even another class in Tahuna.

Everyday during our fitness, PE and game time we're measuring and approximating the distances travelled. Students can even count their activities outside of school and travelling to school too (if by foot, bike, skate or scoot).

Students get a chance to hone their mathematical skills as there is a conversion sheet which provides an approximate distance in kilometres for many activities like rugby, ice skating, dancing, basketball etc.

As we reach different milestones we can learn more about that particular area in the UK and we can see ourselves on Google street view; however, every time we do, we're on a major motorway haha.

Currently we're sitting in 8th out of around 160 classes.
