Year 8 News
What a fantastic term we've had!
We've packed so much into the last few months: summer sports, the school disco, RSE and Cyber Safety units, art gallery visits, and camp preparations!
Term 2 promises to be just as busy. We're kicking things off with Camp Columba. Rooms 9, 10, 11, and 16 will be the first to go, followed by Rooms 12, 13, 14, and 15 in Week 2, and then Rooms 1 and 22 in Week 4. Each camp will be a week-long, action-packed experience. Students will have the opportunity to participate in abseiling, high ropes courses, the 'Flying Kiwi,' zip-lining, kayaking, raft building, 3D archery, and much more.
Next up, Year 8 will be diving into the arts and drama with our Pantomime project! Students will work with our contributing schools to create and perform their own pantomimes, inspired by fairytales, for the Year 1 and 2 students. It's going to be a really fun time for everyone.
Additionally, Year 8 students will be receiving their first round of HPV vaccinations. These will be administered in Weeks 1 and 2, coinciding with the camp schedules, with a follow-up session in Week 3. Only students who have returned signed consent forms from their parents/caregivers will receive the vaccination.
Term 2 brings winter sports, with many teams already trialling. This is Year 8's last opportunity to participate at Tahuna! We encourage all those signed up to give it their best, and those yet to join, to do so quickly to avoid missing out.
Looking forward to fun and exciting term
