🗝️ Escape Room Challenge: Can R17 Crack the Code?

Our Driving Question for PBL this term is "How can we apply and demonstrate the Tahuna Values using the PBL process to create an escape room?" For our Ignitor, we went and visited an escape room last week!

Last week, Room 17 headed out for an exciting trip to the escape rooms, and what an adventure it was!

When we arrived, students were split into smaller groups and very bravely locked into different themed rooms. Each room had its own unique storyline and atmosphere. From the moment the doors closed, the challenge began! Students worked together to crack codes, solve cyphers, uncover hidden clues and complete tricky puzzles.

The teamwork and communication on display were fantastic. Students quickly realised that thinking logically was not always enough. They had to think outside the box to spot hidden patterns and connections. Every group showed perseverance, creativity and strong collaboration skills.

After completing the rooms, we were lucky enough to receive expert advice from the escape room designers to help with our own upcoming escape room creations. We learned how important it is to create a strong narrative so the puzzles connect to a clear and engaging story. We also learned about including a memorable wow moment that surprises participants, and the importance of creating a full sensory experience through lighting, sound and atmosphere.

Room 17 came away full of ideas and excitement to begin designing our own escape rooms. Watch this space.
