2024 is off with a hiss and roar!
The first six weeks of the year have flown by and we've achieved so much together. It has been an absolute joy getting to know each of the ākonga, creating our class culture and helping them settle into their new kura.
Our camp has undoubtedly been the highlight of our year so far. Three amazing days together at Camp Waiora, challenging ourselves and each other. It has been so wonderful to see how the students confidence has grown and those connections with each other being formed.
In the classroom all our regular teaching programmes are well and truly underway. We've been focussing on setting up a safe but challenging maths environment for all. We've also been working on our number knowledge and strategies to support our learning through the year.
Our literacy programme has been underway for a while now with our writing and reading programmes designed to encourage creativity and confidence while also developing specific knowledge to support our PBL work.
We're close to completing our first PBL (Project Based Learning) of the year. The class has been learning about their whakapapa, the design process, ideating, iterations, gaining peer and expert feedback and creating visual art and digital products.
So much else going on including PE, spelling/language work, technology, first aid training, vision testing, technology classes, structured learning in our school library etc. Never a dull moment.
Here are some pictures telling part of our 2024 story so far.
It's going to be a GREAT year!
