Chemistry with Mr Warren.
Year 8's Inquiry Topic for Term 2.
On Wednesday 11th of May, Room 13 were one of the first classes to work with Professor Dave Warren from the University of Otago. We started the session off learning about States of Matter (gas, liquids, solids) and then moved on to some exciting experiences. We got to hold dry ice and put it in water to see the reaction (some people gave it a taste test!). Then Mr Warren showed us liquid nitrogen. He threw it on the ground so we could walk through it and showed us how it could shrink a balloon without popping it.
The session was entertaining and informative. It has given us base knowledge to take with us throughout the rest of the unit. Bring on the next 2 sessions!
