Principal News

Thank you to all of the students who contributed to our successful Open Night. The school looked amazing, and more importantly, if your child was one of the ambassadors on the night, you should be very proud of your child as they all did a fantastic job!  A special well done to Mac and Theo, who spoke brilliantly to a crowd of over 600 people, a task most adults would find very daunting!

We don't spend a huge amount of money on marketing as this takes away from what we can provide for our students to support their learning, but I am a firm believer that in Dunedin especially, the power of the "word" is very important. Please encourage your friends and family members who want to enrol at Tahuna Normal Intermediate for 2024 to do so by the 8th of September. We have a $200 voucher from the uniform shop for one lucky family who gets their enrolment in by the 1st of September.

Last Friday, we set up a "Dragons Den/Shark Tank" scenario for students to pitch their best ideas from the Term 2 PBL on our school environment and how we can reduce waste.  The standard was incredibly high, and the panel of judges saw merit in everyone's ideas and allocated a significant amount of money to allow classes to develop their ideas fully.  It was wonderful to see such articulate, intelligent, well-prepared presentations come to fruition that showed a huge depth of understanding of the issues.

It has also been pleasing to see so much success in the winter sports competitions.  Well done to all the students who completed the season, and a special well done to the teams that made finals.  Thank you to all parents, teachers and volunteers who take sports teams and a special thank you to Eilish, our sports co-ordinator, who has done so much to organise much of our sports programme.  Parents, please take the opportunity for a well-earned sleep-in over the next few weekends and a well-deserved break from being taxi drivers until the summer competitions start!
