Year 8 News
It has been an incredibly busy term for our Year 8 students. In class, we have been focusing on our Cyber Safety unit, where students are building their own websites designed to help our Year 7 cohort navigate the online world safely.
Camp Preparations & First Aid
Preparation for our upcoming Term 2 camps is well underway. To ensure everyone is ready for the adventure, Year 8 classes have been participating in First Aid courses. Team 6 will be the first to head out, departing in the very first week of next term. We would like to extend a huge thank you to the parents and caregivers who are generously donating their time; your support is what makes these camps possible for our students.
Sports Update
It has been a high-energy season! Our students have benefited from expert hockey coaching from Otago Hockey and recently competed in the summer sports finals for:
Touch Rugby & Kī-o-rahi
Volleyball
Water Polo & Futsal
Winter sports sign-ups are now live, and many teams are already beginning trials. We offer a fantastic range of options, including hockey, basketball, and netball. As this is the final year at Tahuna for our Year 8s, I strongly encourage everyone to "give it a go" and try something new.

Looking Ahead to Term 2
Next term, we will begin our Health unit on Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE). You should have received a letter from the office regarding this programme; if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email your child’s classroom teacher.
Later in the term, once camps have concluded, students will be exploring Matariki. We will be learning about its cultural significance and how it is celebrated within Aotearoa and around the world.
As you can see, Term 2 is shaping up to be just as action-packed and engaging as the first!
