School Rocked by Spectacular Strike Performance and Workshop!
The bucket Drumming workshop was a hit!
Last Friday, the school hall was buzzing with the extraordinary energy of the percussion performance by Strike! It was an unforgettable experience that left students entertained and inspired.
The performance was a dynamic showcase of rhythm and sound, featuring an impressive array of percussion instruments. From the powerful beats of traditional drumkits that had everyone's feet tapping, to the dramatic use of methylated spirits and fire that lit up the stage, Strike delivered a truly unique and captivating show.
A major highlight was the inclusion of traditional Cook Island drums. The performers not only demonstrated their incredible skill but also invited several students onto the stage to try their hand at playing them. Seeing our own students drumming alongside the professionals was a fantastic moment, and was a standout part of the show.
The interactive nature of the performance, combined with the sheer talent and a dash of daring, made for an engaging and inspiring event. Strike's visit was a brilliant opportunity for students to witness world-class musicianship up close and experience the diverse world of percussion in a way they won't soon forget.
Following the performance, Murray Hickman and his team from Strike took a specialised workshop for our bucket drumming group. During this hands-on session, students were taught valuable techniques such as how to follow the sticks of others, accurately count complex rhythms, and vocalise rhythmic patterns. This was a fantastic enhancement to the amazing work our dedicated Music teacher, Mrs. Bowen, does with our students, providing them with new skills and inspiration.
