Returning Students at Alert Level 3

Letter from The Principal

21 April 2020

Dear Parents/Caregivers.

Yesterday afternoon the Prime Minister announced that New Zealand will move to Alert Level 3 at 11.59pm on Monday 27 April.

Schools will re-open for a Teacher Only Day on 28 April as part of our preparation, and then open for students who need to attend from 29 April.

At Level 3, all children and young people who can stay at home should stay at home. All children will still have access to distance learning.

The key principles of Level 3 apply

  1. Stay home. If you are not at work, school, exercising or getting essentials, then you must be at home, the same as at Level 4.

  2. Work and learn from home if you can. The government still requires the vast majority of people to work from home, and children and young people to learn from home. At-risk students and staff should also stay at home, and they will be supported to do so. Early learning centres and schools will physically be open for up to Year 10 for families that need them.

It is important to remember that the school will only reopen for students whose parents need to send them. Learning from home will continue and it is expected that as many students as possible will continue to learn from home.

Your child’s teacher will be contacting you to find out if your child is attending school from Wednesday 29th April.

Thank you for your patience and support in this matter.

We are awaiting more detailed information from the Ministry of Education which we intend to share with you over the next couple of days.

In the meantime school staff will spend this week preparing and cleaning the school and working out how to staff the school under the new Alert Level.

If you have any queries or need any assistance please do not hesitate to contact the school

Nāku noa, nā

Kind regards,

Tony Hunter

Principal
