Anzac letters

Imagine you are an ANZAC soldier during World War 1. Your boat has just landed at Gallipoli and you are safe. Write a diary experience about the experience and how you feel.

Dear Diary

Day One: The boat just landed at Gallipoli. I am felling quite homesick. But after many hours of vomiting and working we are ready for battle. As we got off the boats and into the trenches I was really nervous, but my father once said “fear is a powerful thing don’t let it take control of you”. That gave me courage. My father was a wise but old man.

The trenches were cold and dark. I watched I spider crawl across the dry wet sand. It was getting lighter and the sergeant was handing out guns, that was it, it was starting.

Day Two: Well it started and I am still alive, I think... birds are flying all over. Suddenly a big green metal tank rolled over the trenches. “ tanks that’s so unfair”. Another thing that my father said was “lots of things are unfair to you it’s part of life” BANG tumble tumble. I don’t know why I am writing sounds but I have been shot in the leg and I fell into a trench making it ten times worse. I think. This might be the...BANG..
