Taste of French Culture for Elective Students

Last Friday we made what has become an annual visit to the St. Kilda Petanque Club for a taste of French culture.

One of the highlights of our joint Japanese/French elective is always our trip just down the road to the St. Kilda Petanque Club.  Throughout our lessons we have been learning about both the language and culture of France and Japan. This includes everything from learning some basic phrases to special ways of greeting people to using chopsticks.

At the Petanque Club students get an authentic taste of a very traditional French game. Volunteers from the Club take each group  through some basic rules and then it's game on. We had some very close games and some very accurate throwing  in rather challenging Winter conditions.

We were joined by our Mandarin Language Assistants who came along for this Kiwi/French experience.

Many thanks to the St. Kilda Petanque Club for hosting us and we look forward to being back there again soon.
