Camp- High Ropes
Highropes was a key activity down at Camp Columba that we loved!
High ropes was definitely the best activity because you could do all the activities, and you weren't waiting that long for your turn.
The leap of faith was my favourite because you have to climb to the top of the pole and jump onto the bar. It was a bit scary at first, but it was fine when you jumped.
There was also this activity called crate stacking, where you had to put them between your legs and place your feet on the crate then you keep stacking. I got around 16 crates before losing my balance and getting lowered down.
Last but not least, I did the high ropes where you had to walk across on the wire and keep your balance, and I easily made it to the other side. In conclusion, it was really fun and I really enjoyed doing high ropes, which was clearly the best activity. By Isaiah.
...My next activity was the leap of faith, I put on my other harness and walked over to the leap of faith area to get clipped in. I started climbing up and the closer I got to the top, the shakier it got. When I got to the top it was extremely shaky, so I stayed still, and it stopped shaking a little bit but then I had to stand up . It was really hard to stand up but the way I did it was I put my knee on the top of the pole then changed it to my foot, then eventually I got my other leg up and stood up without falling. I decided to just feel what it felt like to fall down, so I just jumped down and it felt fine so the instructor told me that I could grab back onto the pole, so I did, and I attempted to grab onto the pole but didn't jump far enough and missed it by miles.
On my second turn I climbed up and stood up pretty quick and when I jumped I just touched the bar but wasn't able to grab onto it and once again the instructor let me grab back on so I did and got up , and jumped and I grabbed on but my hands slipped off but technically I made it. It was so much fun! By Lucy.
