Poi
Room 18 were the proud winners of the 2015 Marae Week Poi-off!
Not quite traditional, but white plastic bags and plaited wool were used to make our poi. We then had to learn how to manipulate the poi, sing and move at the same time. We managed to combine traditional moves with the odd twist in choreography.
Our judge, Ms Karyn Hearn, when asked for comment, said that the standard was extremely high, but Room 18 came through because of their exceptional mix of contemporary and traditional choreography. She acknowledged that the Room 18 girls performed in a professional and consistent manner.
We were delighted with the student engagement and participation during Marae Week.
