Stephanie Gilmore is one of the best women surfers of all time.

Earlier life

Stephanie Louise Gilmore was born on 29 January 1988 in Murwillumbah, Australia. She has a sister (Whitney Gilmore). She started surfing when she was 9 when she stood up on a bodyboard. By the age of 17 she was entering world tour events as a wildcard competitor. At the 2005 ROXY PRO Gold Coast she won her first World Tour event.

Professional surfing Career

In 2006 Stephanie Won the Havaianas Beachley Classic. Gilmores success in the world qualifying series qualified her for the 2007 women's ASP world tour. She won 4 of the 8 events and claimed her first world title in her rookie year. She won the Women’s ASP world tour again in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2018. In 2010 she was inducted into the Surfers’ hall of fame and won theLaureus World Action Sportsperson of the year award. Now she has become the Women's surfer with the most world titles.

Olympics

Stephanie Gilmore qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. At the Olympics she won her first round and had a bye in her second round. Sadly she lost her third round to Bianca Buitendag and didn’t get a medal but Overall in the Olympics she got 9th.

Stephanie Gilmore has wowed the world of womens surfing. She inspires so many people to go and give it a try, keep persevering and be happy.
