Harakeke!

This term for sustainability Rm 5 has been learning about harakeke. We made some posters with the rules and instructions about harvesting harakeke.
Here are some of the rules:
*Do not harvest the parent or child leaves on the harakeke.
*You should not harvest the harakeke when you are pregnant.
*Never harvest harakeke in the dark or at night.
*Always wear safety gloves and use a sharp knife.
*Never stand on or over the harakeke.
*Always cut the leaves at a downwards angle at the base of the harakeke.
*Cut on at a downwards angle at the base of the harakeke.
*Make sure that the leaves you want to cut are long, firm and straight.
*Always recite a karakia before you harvest harakeke.
*The gel inside the harakeke leaves can act as an antiseptic but you should always wash your hands after touching it.
