2021 has seen the start of the P.P.C or Pacific Pride Club. The purpose of our weekly hui are to provide a platform for our Pacific learners to engage and make connections with each other and Tahuna Teachers.

Each week there is a different teacher scheduled to work with P.P.C. We start with a game, share food and complete our homework together. Sometimes we learn about an aspect of Pacific culture. For example, this week we learned about the significance of the Turtle. We learned that

"The sea turtle is a powerful and mysterious creature in many cultures of the world. In the Pacific, it is a key figure in many traditions and cultures and symbolizes longevity, stamina, tranquility and strength. The turtle represents history, heritage and future. With its navigational spirit, sea turtles connect the Pacific islands through their lifelong journeys. Sea turtles are ocean ambassadors. They are survivors".

Mrs Rouvi's advice for us was to:

'Be like a turtle, powerful, mysterious, easygoing, patient and wise! Learn from your rich history and heritage and follow and use the navigational spirit of your ancestors to build your bright future!!!'

The Pasifika Fono information has gone out. All Pacific families are invited and encouraged to attend. This will be held in the Tahuna Staffroom, Monday 29th March 4:30-5:30. We hope to see you there.
