Specialist Areas Term 4
Students have arrived at their final tech rotation for the year. Explore some of the great photos of our Tahuna students in action.
Visual Art: With the start of a new rotation of students for Term 4, the Year 7 students are doing fun Art activities based on the Elements of Art. Students are becoming aware that anyone can create art work and also have fun. Yr 8 students are getting inspiration from two artists who base their art around numbers. Enjoy viewing students' work.
E-Tech: We have a Tahuna team that has been coached by Harrison from the USA for the First Lego League Southern Regional competition in Christchurch on the 8th November.
They have had lots of fun learning how to complete the 'Sea' themed challenges and have been joined by members of our Tomahawk Water testing team to present the Environmental portion of the challenge.
We wish them the best of luck and here's hoping they will qualify to go to the Nationals in December in Auckland.
Food Technology: An eager bunch of students have completed their Food Tech licences. First practical sessions (pizza, pancakes, passata & pasta and dumplings)have involved safe and hygienic practice as well as making sure we all measure carefully. Students are looking forward to their food design tasks towards the end of the term.
Hard Materials: What a start to Term 4, all students have successfully completed their workshop health and safety induction and have hit the ground running! Some projects have been designed, constructed and off home already. Students will spend the term studying different types of materials and how they can be transformed into some amazing workshop projects. The end of term may even have a Christmas theme, watch this space!
