Room 9 Rock Climbers!
At the beginning of this term, Room 9 went to Logan Park to learn the ins and outs of rock climbing for their upcoming climb at Long Beach!
One cold day, Room 9 went rock climbing at Logan Park High School. We were split up into groups, so half the class went first for rock climbing, and the other went to the dance studio to hang out until the other group was finished. I was in the dance studio group. Before we went to the dance studio, we were playing on the frosty court. I was sliding around on the frost, while others were shooting hoops, or kicking balls around. Then after Miss Cooper asked us if we wanted to go inside. I was freezing cold, so I was in. It took a while for the others to follow, though. After a few moments we started walking through the school, trying to find the dance studio. Finally we came across something that looked like a cabin with a porch, the dance studio. We stayed there until it was our turn for rock climbing. When we went rock climbing, the room was small with a inflatable floor. First we had to sit down and listen to all the safety rules and how to use a harness and rope. Then we each got into groups of three and each put on a harness. Then we chose a space to start climbing. One person was the climber, one person was the one that pulled the rope to lift them up, and one was the assistant puller. Millie and Kruize were in my group and Kruize climbed first. I was assistant puller, and Millie the rope puller. After Kruize reached the top, he made sure that he was stable, and then wanted to be let down. After he was down, it was someone else’s turn.
Heaps of rope burns later, we got to take our harnesses off, and do some free climbing. But there was a line that we could climb to. A few minutes later it was time to leave, and go to the botanical gardens!
We had to walk, from Logan Park High School to the botanical gardens. It was tiring, but we made it. We sat down and ate lunch, with seagulls everywhere! It was seagull infested! After lunch we had to walk ALL the way BACK again, to the bus stop. The bus took FOREVER, and some people were reading, eating, playing or just lying on the ground. Finally, the bus came (after for what seemed like FOREVER) we headed back to Tahuna, just in time to go home.
