The end of a busy term!

As we reach the conclusion of Term 2, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been an incredibly vibrant and busy term here at Tahuna.

It has been a privilege to watch our students engage deeply with the principles of Matariki. The recent Matariki evening was a true highlight, serving as a powerful culmination of the hard work and inquiry that took place in our classrooms. It was wonderful to see our community come together to share in the success of our students' work, from their research into the star formation to their creative construction of light boxes.

Thank you to the teachers who led this work, including Rob Wells, Karen Parker, Marianne Coughlin and Jade Witana. A special thank you to Isaia Piho who led the karakia so beautifully.

As we look ahead to Term 3, we will be shifting our lens from the social science focus of the last few weeks into the fascinating world of science. Students will be exploring the particle nature of matter and chemistry. We are anticipating that this transition will offer a very rich and stimulating learning experience, providing plenty of opportunities for hands-on discovery and scientific inquiry.

We say bon voyage to Abby McGrannachan who has leave for 18 months to work and explore overseas. We welcome Kelsey Aston, who will be teaching in Room 19 until the end of the year. Welcome back also to Olivia Bates, who will be working in Room 20 for one day per week next year.

Finally, I want to wish our students, teaching staff, and whānau a safe and restful holiday break. Thank you for your continued support of our school and our learners. I look forward to seeing everyone return in Term 3, ready to reset, reflect, and continue our learning journey together.
