All Hands on Deck in Room 16!

In Mrs McBride's enquiring maths class we have been learning about length, area and perimeter. Here's a short snippet of what we did........

We had to construct a castle using cardboard and tape.  After the model was  made we had to work out the areas of the various shapes.  This task was quite complex and we needed to ensure there was enough materials and equipment to go around.  We then had to present our castles to other groups using appropriate mathematical language and prove our thinking. Throughout this unit we found rules and formulas and recognised patterns. We now have a new understanding of how hard it would be being a builder!!
