Youth Ambition award
2016

HAVE A PASSION FOR YOUR SCHOOL? WE’LL HELP YOU ACHIEVE IT!

ABOUT DYC:

The Dunedin Youth Council is a group of 14 students; one from each of the Dunedin High Schools and correspondence school. The Youth Council aims to be the bridge between Youth and Dunedin City, connecting young people and creating an environment where they believe their voice is heard.

THE AWARD

The DYC Youth Ambition Award is aimed at groups or individuals of young people between years 8-13 who have a passion they want to pursue. This is a school based award and so the end result needs to benefit the students in the school. It is an initiative to help open the necessary doors to enable students to take initiative in their school, become more involved, to not be hindered due to the lack of finances and further their projects that will help benefit the school community and allow students to be the change maker they really want to be. Ideas may include but are definitely not restricted to:

  •  Running a workshop / getting a guest speaker

  •  Buying equipment for a sport or cultural group that the school can’t fund.

  •  A school community event to create a more eco-friendly environment

  •  A civics education course

  •  Funding students to go on a course to then be able to

implement something that will impact the school

    GUIDELINES

To help the DYC judge the Youth Ambition awards we would like you to write an essay up to 600 words in length, answering specific questions about your ambition. Please view application form for full details
