"We are one"

How Room 13 have celebrated Cultural Diversity following the tragedy in Christchurch.

Room 13 had a discussion around cultural diversity in New Zealand following the tragic attacks in Christchurch. We found an initiative run by siblings  in Te Puke who are collecting culturally diverse paper dolls to create a chain to try and beat the world record of 4km long.

We all made our own ones to send away to them, decorating them however we desired. We hope to help the siblings raise awareness of different cultures.

Throughout the week Aydean asked if he could share some information about Mosque's with the class. He explained the importance of a Mosque and showed us images of the Great Mosque of Mecca which is the largest Mosque in the world. We appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us Aydean.

Lastly on Friday we marked 1.32pm with a moment silence to pay our respects to the victims and their whanau.

Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takimano (My strength is not that of an individual, but that of a collective).
