Mātauranga Māori: Specialist Areas
Our Year 7 and 8 students have put a lot of mahi into celebrating Mātauranga Māori week in the specialist areas. Check out some of their amazing creations.
In Visual Art they have incorporated Māori patterns and designs into their work.
Within Art Year 7 students were inspired by Tokaroa, animals that live in the sea and Whenua, animals that live on the land. Year 8 students incorporated the symbols of our Tahuna school values and Aotearoa's lovely flora, ataahua creations.
In Food Technology, students made Paraoa Parai and homemade raspberry jam and shared their creations across their whole team. Students also worked hard to create the soups to feed 180 guests at our Matariki evening and prepared choc brownie and gingerbread stars for our school disco. An amazing effort!
