Tahuna Community Green Thumbs
In case you have missed what has been happening on the other side of the fence.......Caius and his fantastic team of year 7’s and 8’s have started a gardening elective which is going amazingly well. During their lunch hours for the past couple of months they have been dedicated to planting seeds, raising seedlings, watering, caring for mini vegetables, harvesting small crops, and donating their time to help those that are less fortunate.
So far Tahuna has donated lettuce, rocket, radishes and kale to food banks throughout the city.
Recently the Green Thumbs have received a wonderful donation from LJ Hooker making it possible to build more gardens for our tunnel houses and to tidy up our area. The LJ Hooker team are hoping to do a video on the fantastic work our gardeners are doing.
By the end of this term we will have produce washed and available for our Tahuna whānau a notice will be sent out a few days prior to let you all know.
If you would like to know what’s available take a look through the fence or pop in and check out the work going on during one of the lunch time working bees.
