Waste Not, Want Not

Room 6 recently had an awesome and extremely fascinating visit to the Dunedin Wastewater Treatment Plant.

This term we've been learning about our body systems, resulting in students focussing on the digestive system. This led us to investigate the next stage after our digestive system has completed its role.

The trip was so fascinating, at times a little over powering for some haha.

We learned how ultraviolet light helps the process, how clean the water is before it's pumped out to see and how some bacteria meet their fiery doom.

A huge thank you to Fiona Thomas (parent and DCC employee) and Mark Greening (Wastewater Treatment Team Leader) and the whole team who were so welcoming and knowledgable.
