Tomahawk Lagoon Team
Well done to the Tomahawk Lagoon Team for a successful year working on this project
This year we have had some very keen scientists working with EcoOtago on data collection from the Tomahawk lagoon. Our site is situated behind the Tomahawk hall in the upper Estuary fortnight our team of scientist have been working on collecting water samples, bug life counts and bird counts as well as making notes on the environment when we take the samples.
We did find this year that some of our winter testing was warmer than our spring weather, although in general we had good weather for taking samples. Unfortunately by the last month of water testing our waders started leaking so we can confidently say the water was cold!!
The students have followed the scientific process really well this year with their data collection and have given their class time and personal time to present their findings to the local community on more than one occasion.
Congratulations to Heather H, Sebastian H, Darcia H, Bhavya K, Lily M, Max S, Alex Mc, Niamh T who will all receive their citizenship awards at assembly this week.
