Year 8 News
What an Awesome Term!
Winter sports have wrapped up, and we're gearing up for summer sports teams. For our Year 8 cohort, this is one of the last chances to try a new sport.
This term has been packed with exciting programs. The Olympic PBL saw our Year 8 team visit various contributing schools to teach their Year 5 and 6 students a new game developed through the PBL unit.
Year 8 rock climbing started with fantastic days at Long Beach, where students pushed their boundaries. Many classes even spotted some penguins! So far, the weather has been perfect. We're keeping our fingers crossed for the remaining classes in week one of Term 4.
Term 4 features another exciting unit focused on financial literacy. Year 8 students will learn about budgeting and setting up a business for our famous trading day. Every year, our young entrepreneurs impress us with their creativity.
The second round of HPV vaccinations takes place on Tuesday, October 22nd. The first round was in Term 2. If your child received their first vaccination at school, they'll be due for their second. Parents don't need to take any action, as all information was collected in Term 1. Please contact your GP or Southern District Health if you have any questions.
South Zone and Otago Athletics champs will be held in Term 4. Best of luck to all our Tahuna athletes who have qualified!
Finally, our Year 8 students will have their high school orientation days. Each high school will notify families about dates, times, and what to bring. Please contact your chosen high school if you have any questions.
Thanks for another amazing term.
