HOT POTATO MARIMBA JAM

200 children from 10 Dunedin schools will be having a magical morning of music with the spectacular Hot Potato Band from Australia on Wednesday 20 August, 9.30am

Fresh from their tour of Europe, the Hot Potato Band are heading to Dunedin as part of their South Island tour, bringing their unique and spectacular brass show to Errick’s for an evening show. In their own words, they have reinvented the traditional brass band as a modern day dance machine!

We’re delighted and excited that they will also be leading a schools workshop and concert, in collaboration with Music Education Otago. The children will be playing marimbas, xylophones, chime bars & glockenspiels, plus trumpet, clarinet and saxophone from the older students. They have been rehearsing for weeks to prepare for the event and are excited to meet the band.

Schools participating are: Tahuna Intermediate, St Clair School, Macandrew Bay School, Musselburgh School, Kaikorai Primary, Port Chalmers School, Andersons Bay School, Abbotsford School, Tainui School & Taieri College.

Our thanks to the Grassroots Trust, Tahuna and Music Education Otago for funding this event, to enable costs for schools to be kept to a minimum.
