13 different sporting possibilities offered to our Tahuna students ranging from Table Tennis through to Netball. Hockey and Rugby appear to be the favoured sporting options although Mrs McBrides 'Schoolyard Antics' and Mr Wells 'Ultimate Games' are popular also.

Late last term the School Council raised over $900 for the South Dunedin Flood Appeal with a mufti day. Member of Parliament Clare Curran was at Tahuna to accept the money on behalf of the appeal.

Our school was invited to participate in the Ariki Cross Country cup which in the past has been offered to our Year 6 and below students. The organisers trialled a new initiative by inviting Year 7 and 8 students.

The Rippa Rugby attempted to defend their title at the Otago Champs in the last week. Unfortunately we suffered a shock loss in the semi final to Arrowtown. Our unbeaten run of 5 years come to a halt but we are planning to win the cup back next year.

Our Swimming & Aquatics programme is well underway with all of our students taking part in 10 hours of swimming lessons & Aquatic confidence activities over the term.

Congratulations to Lily Taylor, who is the Tahuna recipient for 2015, having met all the criteria for this prestigious leadership award. Mr Allen Anderson, Branch Manager of the South Dunedin Westpac branch presented her with the medal and leadership pack.

We were very lucky to be able to host another group of Chinese students lately. The teachers and students of the classes involved had a lot of fun getting to know our visitors.

On Sunday the 23rd of August, Morgan and Cailin competed in the Gymnastics Competition at Willis Street Gym. They competed on these following apparatus: Floor, Vault, Uneven Bar and Beam. Cailin got the total of 34.8 achieving a bronze medal. Morgan got a total of 34.975 achieving the Silver medal.

Due to Marlow Pies moving their base from South Dunedin they are no longer able to deliver their products to Tahuna. We are therefore sourcing our canteen products from another retailer in our immediate area. We have had a long association with Marlows and enjoyed their high quality products.
